The influence of lipid membranes on fluorescent probes' optical properties

Organic fluorophores embedded in lipid bilayers can nowadays be described by a multiscale computational approach. Combining different length and time scales, full characterization of the probe localization optical properties led to novel insight into effect environments. Following an introduction on advancements, three relevant probes are reviewed that delineate how approach lead probes' (non) linear properties.
